The popularity of Walkers cookies is best seen in the fact that in the 1970s Walkers was exporting its traditional Scottish buttered cookie, or shortbread
to as many as 60 countries around the world. Although it all started with a cookie with pure butter, Walkers introduced another future classic in 1975, Chocolate Chip Shortbread

Today, Walkers employs over 4,000 people and produces their cookies in 6 factories throughout Scotland, and as the greatest tribute and recognition for the quality and use of natural ingredients in their products, Walkers received in 2002 the Royal Warrant of Appointment
and became the official supplier of oatmeal cookies to the Queen of the United Kingdom and her family, and in 2017 the traditional Scottish buttery shortbread cookie also joined this elite company.
In 2018, the price of butter on the market increased by as much as 50%, but Walkers remained faithful to their recipe using top-quality, creamy butter, and Joseph Walker's guarantee that only the highest quality and natural ingredients are used in his products still stands on every package of Walkers cookies which is decorated with the traditional and recognizable tartan pattern after the model of the Scottish kilt.
