Smith&Sinclair - genijalni žele bomboni!

Smith&Sinclair is one of the hottest brands in the sweets market right now. Now, they have landed in Croatia. And immediately jumped to the list of the most entertaining sweets that can currently be purchased here.
Smith&Sinclair was founded by Londoners Melanie Goldsmith and Emile Bernard, an entrepreneur and chef. They started organizing dating events in bars, and then came up with the idea that it would be fun and easier to break the ice if they also offered their guests something like Haribo for adults, alcoholic gummy candies.
This is how Smith&Sinclair was created, currently the hottest candy brand in the world, and Goldsmith and Bernard were nicknamed Willy Wonka for adults. Because, as the company motto says, growing up doesn't mean being boring. Another motive for the creators of Smith&Sinclair was less alcohol fun. Gummy candies are playful and cheerful, and contain less than 5% ABV. 



At Deliiicije, in stores and on the web shop, you can now find six types of Smith&Sinclair candy boxes, which means you can try all the flavors that this innovative brand has so far launched on the market. Each box contains ten individually packaged candies in four or five flavors of alcoholic beverages and cocktails, all are suitable for vegans.
Smith&Sinclair are quite large for gummy candies, they are incredibly soft and juicy, sprinkled with just a little sugar from ginger, orange, lemon, thyme, cherry... according to the flavor of each candy. The biggest surprise is that they are not too sweet, and when opened they strongly smell of the drink they are made from, and the flavors are even more consistent. Smith&Sinclair stand out significantly from all standards of this type of sweets and are excellently designed and will look good at dinners, parties and especially as a gift. And they contain so much alcohol that one or two candies will make you happy all evening.

GIN OBSESSED 


 
Gin&Tonic



Gin&Tonic candies have a nice strong smell of London Dry gin, and the tonic is felt by bitterness in the taste. It is sour, with strong notes of citrus and juniper. Another surprise is the aftertaste like a Gin&Tonic, the sweetness disappears almost completely when the candy dissolves in the mouth. These candies have such pure flavors of the drinks and cocktails they are made from, it's more appropriate to describe them as drinks than as sweets.
 
Elderflower Gin Spritz

Fantastic floral scent of elderflower, just a little sour taste of prosecco grapes and gin bitterness. The best taste in this box. In these candies, the alcohol is very pronounced, as if you ate a gelled gin with a little thyme (in the sugar). Definitely, keep them away from small children.
 
Hibiscus Negroni



The sweetest candy in this box, it smells of red vermouth and orange peel, with fine notes of hibiscus, the mildest in terms of the impression of alcohol, but the least interesting. 
 
Cherry & Hibiscus Bramble
Bramble is a real tribute to London. The cocktail was invented in Fred’s Club in SoHo in 1984 by London barman legend Dick Bradsell, as a short gin sour with blackberry liqueur. Versions with maraschino and crushed cherries became much more popular, and this candy is inspired by the sexy Cherry&Hibiscus version. The intense, gorgeous flavor of the maraschino goes great with the texture of soft gummy candies.  
 
 
THE LOVE BOX



Tequila Sunrise



The typical taste of cocktails from summer clubs. Plenty of orange and the recognizable herbal-fruit flavor of average tequilas, the best feature of this candy is that you literally feel the warmth of the alcohol in the tequila when you eat it. Aftertaste is very fresh, citrusy, with sweet notes of grenadine.
 
Mandarin Spritz



This flavor we like the least of all. Mandarin Spritz is potentially an excellent refreshing drink because what would be better than adding fresh mandarin juice to Aperol and prosecco. Not the case here, it smells a bit plastic and is too sweet. 
 
Cosmopolitan
While the Mandarin Spritz in the Love Box represents prosecco, Cosmopolitan represents vodka. Worthy. Cosmopolitan is made from vodka, triple sec, cranberry and fresh lime juice. You get the perfumery taste of orange liqueur, enhanced by neutral alcohol and refreshed with the high acids of cranberry.  A drink born for city nights out. This candy literally tastes like a Cosmpolitan being served to you in a good bar.
 
Berry Daiquiri
The first representative of rum in the Smith&Sinclair range, the flagship rum cocktail Daiquiri, here in a version with forest berries. Daiquiri is one of those drinks that achieve the most in the simplest way: rum, lime and sugar and the tropics sing in your glass. In this candy, more of an unsophisticated continental summer comes out, because blueberries dominate as well as the strong, hard alcohol from rum. Aftertaste is much better, warm, spicy, rum-like as it should be. 
 
Passion Fruit Mojito



It is possible that we have already loosened up so much by this candy that we have become too lenient, but we would really not mind if someone made us a mojito from which this candy was made. Merry sweet ripe scent of passion fruit, a hit of white rum and tons of mint that literally cools your mouth. A much better version of Smith&Sinclair with rum than Berry Daiquiri.
 
 
TEQUILA TIME


 
Spicy Margarita
For cocktail lovers of tequila, this box will meet expectations. Four flavors, all consistently conjure up the tastes of the most popular tequila drinks. Spicy Margarita is created when crushed hot peppers, most commonly jalapeno, are added to the classic Margarita. This is cleverly executed in this candy with chili sugar and a bit of chili in the mass, although they did not achieve that wicked earthy-green taste of blanco tequila, salt and fresh vegetable spiciness for which Spicy Margarita is so popular. Still, a very interesting candy.
 
Paloma



The best candy from the box dedicated to tequila, Paloma is bitter, sour, refreshing as well as this significant Mexican contribution to the cocktail culture. Strong taste of tequila, lot of citrus freshness, bitterness of grapefruit without much compromise.
 
Tequila Slammer
For most, this is the taste they identify with tequila: a bum-bum show that ruled clubs and bars for years. This candy is as good as a bum-bum tequila can be, but will certainly evoke nostalgia. 
 
 
WHISKEY CLUB


 
Whisky & Ginger



Just this authentic fresh ginger taste is enough to explain why Smith&Sinclair are such a hit. The Whiskey Club box, where the candies are made from scotch whiskey and bourbon, allows you to do a really extraordinary thing, to give a box of gummy candies to someone very adult, very serious, someone with very strict criteria for drinks,  and sincerely make him happy. This candy starts with a punch of warm, dark, spicy whiskey flavors and a lot of fiery, floral ginger and ends with light acidity and warm, dry whiskey aftertaste. The acidity fades a bit towards the end, but you would never expect such a fantastic flavor from a gummy candy. 
 
Whiskey Sour
Sweet caramel bourbon smell and tons of fresh citrus as soon as you open the bag. This candy is a real, classic Whiskey Sour from an old-fashioned bar, combining the warm dark flavors of whiskey and the freshness of lemon with a precisely hit dose of lemon sugar which this candy is sprinkled with.
 
Old Fashioned
It seems that this flavor would be the easiest to make because Old Fashioned does not require the smells and tastes of fresh fruit mixers. But it does require serious balance and that wonderful, intoxicating, golden smell of alcohol aged in wood, with pharmaceutical notes of bitters. This candy has bitterness, high concentration of bourbon and even a nice smell that orange peel leaves on the glass.  
 
Manhattan



This is a more bitter, more brutal version of Manhattan, one of our favorite whiskey cocktails. A lot of alcohol, a lot of bitters, clear acid, the most serious taste in the box dedicated to whiskey.
 
 
NIGHT IN



Pineapple Bellini



This box intended for friends, combines some of the flavors from the previously-described boxes with Pineapple Bellini and Pina Colada, two cocktails we were most wary of at this tasting. Bellini is usually a sensitive cocktail as it is practically based on one ingredient, fresh puree of the ripest white peaches. If you don't have top-notch peaches, no prosecco will improve your Bellini. This Pineapple Bellini is a good alternative for those who find the strong, authentic flavors of alcohol too much, but in the jelly candy format strong drinks work much better than sparkling wines. 
 
Pina Colada
A very pleasant surprise. This is not a sugary, kitschy version of Pina Colada with a lot of sweetness and coconut, but a decent dose of rum whose warmth is softened by coconut cream and animated by pineapple. Probably the biggest charmer in the entire Smith&Sinclair portfolio.
